The graph below shows the average monthly change in the prices of three metals during 2014.
The line chart displays the proportion of the prices of three metals changing averagely per month during 2014.
Firstly, there was a sharp decrease in the average monthly change in the price of nickel. The figure of this metal started in January with 6% change compared with previous month, however, this number soon dropped significantly by 5% two months later before falling to a low of -3% in June, at which point the proportion kept going back and forth until it got 1% in December. Besides, the proportion of copper slightly fell down. After falling to a low of -0.5% in both May and June, the number soon went up by 1.5% and stayed uniform from July to September. This was followed by a drop to 0.5% in the next two months before rising for 1% change in price in December.
On the other hand, there was a ceiling trend in the figure of zinc. In January, the proportion of price change was 1%, after which the figure climbed by 2% just a month later before sinking to -1% in June. The figure then slightly recovered but reached the lowest point of -1% in October before going up in the last few months.
