The graph below shows the average number of UK commuters travelling each day by car, bus or train between 1970 and 2030.
The line graph illustrates the number of people travelling by car, bus or train per day in UK from 1970 to 2030. At first glance, it is evident that the number of UK people travelling by car was highest over a period of 40 years and it is predicted that continuously increase in the future.
In 1970, the number of commuters who travelled by train was around 2 million people, compared to approximately 4 million people travelling by bus and just over 5 million people travelling by car. From 1980 to 2010, the rate of UK people using car considerably increase and it reached to just under 7 million people in 2010, and the figure for train rose slightly to 3 million people in 2010. The figure for bus minimally fell, at just over 3 million people in 2010.
Looking into the future, the number of UK commuters using car is predicted that continuously increase, peaking at 9 million people in 2030. Similar with car the figure for train will reach over 5 million people, whereas there will be only under 3 million people using bus in 2030.
