The bar chart illustrates the proportion of households who owned cars in a specific European country over a three decade period from 1971 to 2001.
Overall, there were dramatic downward trend for the number of family without cars while this figure for those who obsessed one or more cars improving. Another interesting point is that the total number of cars used in each household raise over the period given.
Looking at details, in 1972 nearly half of population did not have any car compared to just 15% households using two or more cars. However, this figure for the rest of period for families had no car fell steadily, hit a trough at around 27% which was just a half of its figure in the initial point. Meanwhile, the percentage of people who had more than one car experienced a remarkable fluctuation between 27% and 20% above till the end of the period.
On the other hand, the proportion of household who owned only one car just made up 35% of the total population then dropped slightly by 5% in the next decade. However, this figure for families had one car has surpassed other groups, ranking the first place since 1991 and finished the period at around 43%.
