The line graph illustrates how many books were read at Burnaby Public Library in the time span between 2011 and 2014. The information is classified by the gender of readers.
Overall, before 2013 there were more women than men who read books in the library. However, by this year the number of females began to decrease whereas that of males to increase.
At the beginning of the period, around 3000 and 5000 books were read by men and women respectively. In the following year, the number of books was increased by 3000 for females whereas male readers did not significantly rise. However, from 2012 to 2013 there was a sharp growth of the amount of books read by men so that in 2014 the two trend crossed at the figure of approximately ten thousand.
From 2013, there was a clear change of the trends since the library saw a considerable increase in books read by men and a more moderate drop by woman. The final picture in 2014 was a return to the value of 8000 books read by female, the same as in 2012, and 14 thousand books read by men.
