The graph illustrates the proportion of male and female academic staff members across the faculties of a major university in 2012.
Overall, it can be seen that the proportion of males and females was almost equal in the faculty of medicine whereas there was a huge difference in the percentage of the engineering field.
It is observed that 55% of females were academic staff in the arts faculty which exceeded males by 10%. By contrast, the male percentage was two times of proportion of females in the case of the business field. In the education faculty, the staff percentage of men was one-third of the women percentage where women were 75%. The staff proportion of males in the engineering field was found to be 85% but only 15% were female. There was a difference of 20% between academic staff by gender in the faculty of law where females occupied 60%. A slight difference of 2% was observed in medicine faculty between staff members. Observation of a greater proportion of males was noticed rather than females, here males lagged by 30% and females were 70%.
