The line graph illustrates the effect of modern technology appearing in families in the UK every couple of year from 1996/97 to 2002/03.
In general, those equipment show a trend of increase, however, it can be separated by two stages, before 1998/99 and after this time. In the first stage, while the internet was not provided, computer, mobile phone or CD player have a slight increase from 1996 to 1999. Especially, CD player accounts almost families in this country by around 60%. Once the internet appears in 1998/99, it made everything change. The percentage of families can use internet increase sharply from almost 10% to around 40% during 4 years. By using the internet, the used mobile phone fluctuated wildly, but the trend was upward. Consequently, the mobile phone takes account of modern equipment as an important part with almost 65% and nearly reach to the CD player. While internet sharply climb and the home computer still remains the rate of development, the CD player began less and less us.
It is noticeable that internet access strongly affected on the habit of electronic using from the past to the future.
