The graph illustrates how the prices per kilogram of different types of bread changed in Europe from 2001 to 2005.
Looking at the graph, it can be seen that the prices of rye bread and white bread have increased over the course with some fluctuations, while the figure for brown bread and wholemeal bread remained relatively stable.
Being the cheapest bread in 2001 with only 0.2 euros/kg, the prices of white bread rocketed and hit the peak at 1.2 euros/kg in 2002. After falling to 0.5 euros/kg, the figure for white bread saw a slight increase to 0.7 euros/kg in 2005. Meanwhile, the prices for rye bread was the highest in 2001 at 0.6 euros/kg, the prices increase to about 0.9 euros/kg before declining to 0.8 euros/kg a year after. The figure climb up gradually and finished at 1.1 euros/kg in 2005.
The figures for brown bread and wholemeal bread remained stable over the examined period. Brown bread and wholemeal bread stood at 0.5 euros/kg in 2001. In 2005, while the prices brown bread saw a minor increase to just under 0.6 euros/kg, wholemeal bread's price remained the same.
