The pie charts show four kinds of accommodation chosen by holidaymakers in the UK in three years, namely 1985, 1995, and 2005
In general, there were noticeable changes in the proportion of people staying at staying with relatives, hotels, and caravans, while a constant trend can be seen if we look at the figure for camping. It is also clear that the figure for staying with relatives was the highest among five types in 1985 and 1995; however, that for hotels was larger than any other in 2005.
At the beginning of the period, 55% of people staying with relatives was recorded, compared to only 16% at hotels. Over the following 10 years, the percentage of people staying with relatives decreased sharply, to 35%, before dropping to 30% in 2005. In addition, The UK saw the proportion of people who stayed at hotels increase significantly, to 37% in 2005.
In 1985, The percentage of people going camping stood at 19%, while the figure for caravans was lower, at 10% respectively. After 10 years, the figure for camping fell to 12% but rose to 19% in 2005. Furthermore, caravans followed the opposite trend to that of camping, with figures decreasing to 14% on 2005
