Essay topics:

The graphs below show the changes in age structure of population in a European country from 1901 to 1981 and a projection in 2021.

The pie charts provide changes which took place in the age distribution of one European nation between 1901 and 1981 and a prediction in 2021.
Overall, it is clear that the percentage of residents aged below 64 accounted for the most significant number during the whole period. Moreover, while the under 64 section experienced an downward trend, the opposite trend was witnessed in the two remaining age groups.
According to the chart, in 1901, 95% of the residents were under 64 years old, dominating the first place in the ranking. Moreover, this figure remained unchanged during the next 30 years and is predicted to reach the bottom of 79% in 2021.
The trend was totally different when it came to other sectors. Starting with 4% in 1901, the figure for 65-84 age group then increased remarkably to 13% in 1981 and is forecasted to reach 16% in 2021, accounting for the second place in the last period. Likewise, only 1% of seniors were over 85 years old in the initial year. Although the proportion of this age group is also predicted to see a steady growth to 6% in 2021, it still remained in the lowest position.
