The provided bar graphs display the proportion of employed men and women from 60 to 64 years old in four countries in 1970 and 2000.
In general, all four countries witnessed a decreased in the number of working people aged 60 to 64. It is also apparent that the percentage of men were higher than that of women across 4 countries.
In 1970, 86% of men from 60 to 64 years old participated in the workforce in the USA, closed followed by Indonesia with a 2% deficit. Meanwhile, Belgium and Japan recorded the lowest figures with 79% and 76%. The proportion of working 60 to 64-year-old women in the USA was 78%. Indonesia and Belgium followed with the numbers for both countries exceeded 60%, whilst only 56% of Japanese women in this age group were employed.
It can be seen that the statistics for all countries dwindled in 2000. In terms of men, America and Indonesia continued to be the top countries with 78% and 74% respectively. While the number of employed Japanese males decreased to 63%, it led Belgium by an 11% gap. Regarding women, Indonesia stayed at first place with 50%, ahead of Japan (47%) and the USA (45%). The percentage of Belgian women from 60 to 64 years old was significantly lower that other countries with only 8%.
