The charts and table illustrate the amount of money that families earned and spent on food and clothes in one UK city in 2010 and 2013.
In general, the total income and spending on food and clothes followed different trends in the period shown on the table. Besides, there were slight changes in the rates of groups, including food, drinks, and clothes.
It is apparent that the total income experienced a considerable decline between 2010 and 2013, from 29,000 pounds to 25,000 pounds. In contrast, the amount of money that families consumed to buy food and clothes noticeably increased to 15,000 pounds.
In addition, it can obviously be seen that spending on fruits and vegetables significantly grew, and gained the first rank, with 20% in 2010, compared to 35% in 2013, whereas the expenditure on fish and meat dropped to the 4th rank in 2013, with 15%. The consumption of dairy products rose by 5% in the period shown. Furthermore, families settling in the UK tended to spend more money on clothes from 2010 to 2013, up from 12% to 22%, while the spending on other food and drinks stayed the same.
