Women, on the other hand, showed an increase in the number of smokers. In 1960, the figure of smoking female in Someland stood at about a hundred per thousand, only six times smaller than that of men. It began to rise until the year 1975 at a rate of 315 per 1000 people. Then, it slightly slipped back to about 200 people per 1000 by 2000, almost equal to the number of men smokers.
