The maps demonstrate the development of Stamdoft – a local industrial village in England across three decades, from 1985 to 2015.
Overall, the major structure remained the same, but the village underwent a considerable transformation with the creation of many new buildings.
Eastward, we can see an obvious change that the old factory was demolished. Instead of it, people constructed a large industrial zone on the north of the village which was merely a vacant ground in 1985. From the industrial park, they also built a new road leading to Arlington Road. The small roadside inns were shifted from the left to the right side of the Theme River. The wooden bridge passing the river, after 30 years, was replaced by a steel one.
On the west side of Stamdoft, the field was further moved to the southwest corner. A noticeable point is that, in 2015, there were a lot of big buildings like Housing Estate 1 and 2 and the industrial staff quarter. Lastly, in 2015, residents of the village seemed to pay more attention to the environment. The sharp increase in the number of trees shows a really positive trend.
