The percentage of female members of parliament in European countries from 2000 to 2012
The given line graph indicates the changes in the proportion of parliament members who were women in some countries in Europe over the years from 2000 to 2012.
Overall, it is outstanding that all five countries saw an upward trend in women’s positions over the period. It is also remarkable that Belgium was the country in which the percentage of parliament women participants experienced the most significant changes.
Looking at the graph in more details, German y stood at the highest data, at around 34%, and the lowest position belonged to the UK, at almost in 2000. Meanwhile, the figures for Italy, France and Belgium were 26%, 25% and 17% correspondingly, higher than the UK. It is significant noticing that in 2008, the percentages of France and Belgium were the same at approximately 29%.
From 2008 to 2012, women who were parliament participants in the UK grew to 27%, while the data for the UK reached a peak at the same statistic. As regards the women members of Italy, it became the country having the highest data compared with the others in 2012, at 39%. Whereas, both Germany and France’s governments witnessed an increase of the female which has seats in parliament, at 36% and 32% respectively.
