The chart gives information about the percentage of inhabitants who had access to many communication services around the world.
Initially, the number of landline users stood at about 14%, which was the highest number of the five communication services. The 2000 to 2006 period saw an upward trend in the figure from 18% to 20%. After that, the number of landline users decreased slightly. At the end of the survey, the figure ranked third.
In 1998, the numbers of Internet and cellular phone users were as the same level. On the one hand, the former rocketed from 1008 to 20004. In 2014, more people used the Internet with about 30% of the world population using it. This figure continued going up and peaked at more than 60% of the world inhabitants. On the other hand, the figure of cellular phone users increased slightly until 2004. After that, there was a slight rise in the figure from 10% to over 20%.
However, mobile and fixed broadband were not introduced until 2002 and 2004. There was an upward trend in the number of users of both services. At the end of the survey, the former was minimally higher than the latter (5% and 4% respectively)
Overall, people used Internet and cellular phone more than other services.
