Overall, over-grazing took the largest share concerning land degradation compared to other contributors. Meanwhile the total degraded land observed with the highest figure was witnessed in Europe.
Raising cattle by letting them graze on land caused the most negative influence with 35% in regard with the total. Over-cultivation took an account for 30 %, which ranked the second largest figure among the four factors and the global degradation caused by deforestation held 28%. The non-specific reason which was categorized as other only stood at 7 %.
The figures of deforestation and over-cultivation seen in Europe were by far the highest among three examined regions with 9.8% and 7.7% respectively.
