The pie chart shows the percentage of women in poverty and the bar chart shows poverty rates by sex and age. They are from the United States in 2008.
The first illustration describes the proportion of women living below the rate poverty and the second illustration compares the level of poverty in different ages and sexes in America in the year 2008.
Overall, it can be seen that single women likely had a poor life rather than married women. Meanwhile, people who were under 5 had a high rate of poverty in both sex while poverty occurred in most women in the 18-24 age.
On the one hand, the proportion of poverty in single women with no dependent children was 54%, accounted for over half of the total. At the same time, around 26% of single women with dependent children also lived in poverty. By contrast, only 8%, and 12% respectively in the figure for married women with either have or have not dependent children.
On the other hand, in 2008, there was a nearly same figure for people in both sexes under 5 years old living poorly, about 20%, twice as the figure of people who were 45-54. These were also the lowest figures for both sexes. However, the figure for women in 18-24 age peaked at 20% while the figure for men was just 15%.
