Essay topics:

The pie charts below compare the proportion of energy capacity in gigawatts (GW) in 2015 with the predictions for 2040.

The pie chart demonstrates the percentage of energy capacity from five resources including fossil fuels, wind, nuclear, solar and other renewable in 2015 and an estimation of 2040. The unit is measured by gigawatts (GW).

Overall, there is a decrease in the data of energy production in 3 sectors for fossil fuel, nuclear and other renewable while a rise is seen in the others resources. The significant drop is witnessed in the data of fossil fuels and it accounts for the largest proportion.

In 2015, the percentage for fossil fuels in power generation started at 64%, after which it is expected to drop to 44% in 2040. Similar changes, but to lesser extent, 23% of energy generated from other renewable in the first year, and a prediction to a decline to 21 % at the end of the period. Similarly, the figure for nuclear is likely to by 1% ,from 6% to 5% by 2040.

In an opposite way, solar energy stood at 2% at the beginning of the period, followed by a projection of a remarkable growth to 18%. The percentage of wind power was at 5%, before being anticipated to reach 12% by 2040. The total proportion of energy capacity also increase from 6688 GW to 11678 GW.
