In some countries young people are encouraged to work or travel for a year between finishing high school andstarting university studies.
Discuss the advantages and disadvantages for young people who decide to do this.
Nowsaday, high school graduated have the tendencies to spend a year for gaining personal experiment before enrolling college and they are supported by surroundings. Despite plentiful benefits of taking gap year brings, there are many considerable downsides that young people might suffer.
Apparently, after one year of either working or travel, young people grow up. As we travel, we know more about the world, the diversification in culture, thereby we would understand the different in behaviors and thoughts of people around the world and rational think about how to communicate friendly. If we choose to work, even sweatshop labour, we would appreciate the money and grow appreciation toward any kind of occupations. These attitudes are highly encouraged inside every persona.
On the other hands, instead of gaining precious experiment, some fall to worthless enjoyment. For instance, some people can’t help travelling and spending money, as a result they find no motivation for coming back home and continue their career. Or, some decide to stop their study for working without serious consideration – which might effect negatively on their future career. In the worse case, as we are too young and when there are no restriction, we are vulnerable to tremendous social problems such as drug addictors, robberies, etcera.
In conclusion, despite the advantages of gap year each get, one might fall for enormous drawbacks. Nevertheless, spending a year off must be continuously encouraged by the society for students to be well-prepared before starting their college life.
