Some people say that the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. Others say that there are more important environmental problems. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Some people claim that the extinction of special species of animals and plants is the most important environmental issue in our time, while others disagree with this point of view. I believe that loss of animals and plants is one of environmental problems and there are also other important issues which should be taken into account.
On the one hand, I can understand why some people believe that the extinction of animals and plants is one of the essential problems that should be prioritized for review and this problem must the main focus of environmental protection. Nowadays, many animals and plants are in danger of extinction as a result of human activities. Good examples of these are excessive illegal poaching and deforestation. The continuous performance of such activities has led to falling numbers of some particular species of animals and plants. For example, in my country white lion is one of the animals that its generation has become extinct and there is only of them which is protected in the zoo. Moreover, many plants and trees are cut for construction of new roads and buildings. This situation not only can destroy the natural habitats but also can increase pollution which can threaten the health of humans.
However, consideration of endangered animals and plants ‘survival as the only main environmental problem is wrong. There are other important problems, such as climate change and overuse of plastic, which should not be underestimated. In recent years, we can see the evidence of climate change, including rising sea levels, increasing the temperature of the earth and the occurrence of severe hurricanes and earthquakes. Many scientists believe that if the climate change is not controlled, the earth will be no longer a place for living in the future. Also, in modern life, many people have consumerist lifestyle and the majority of them tend to buy new products packed by plastic. Many companies use plastic to pack their products regardless of the fact that plastic is non-recyclable and takes many years to decompose in the nature. Many animals lose their life just because they eat plastic as a food wrongly.
In conclusion, in my view, the loss of animals and plants is one of the important environmental problems and it should be considered alongside other issues because most of environmental problems are related to each other. Even solving one of them can decrease the negative effects of other ones.
