The following table shows data on the underground railways system of six metropolis around the world. It is constituted of four columns, representing respectevly: the opening date, its length (the unit of measure is the km) and the millions of passengers per year.
At first glance, it can be noticed that London owns the longest and oldest system, while Los Angeles's subway is relatively new and very limited in its extension.
Beginning with inauguration years, all the cities but L.A. built their systems before the 2000s. London holds the first place in 1863, followed by Paris in 1900.
Regarding the extension of the route and popularity, London once again places itself first, with a 394 km long underground railway. However, with 775 million passengers per year, it is not the most frequented one.
That's Tokyo's case; although it might not be the longest, it is the most used for sure, reaching 1927 million commuters every year.
On the other hand, Kyoto distinguishes itself, along with L.A., for its remarkably low numbers: just 11 kilometers of route and 45 million passengers per year.
