The table compares the percentage of earnings which spent on different purposes in the UK in 1998.
In general, adults spending on food was highest in four items, while the opposite trend could be seen for young adults.
In particular, the figure for income that women spending on food was more popular as well as electronic equipment, music, and videos, while the figure for music was highest in girls.
In 1998, 39% of the total income which was spent on food by women, while the figures for adults, men and girls were lower, at 25%, 14%, and 11% respectively.
The proportion of income that children and girls spending on food stood at 10% and 9% in orderly.
In contrast, the figures for adults, men and women had the same percentages on music items; however, the figures for children, boys and girls were highest, at 39%, 38% and 40% orderly.
Meanwhile, the proportion of income that children spending on electronic equipment was very high, at roundly 23% compared to only about 18% for boys. In addition, the figure for men stood at 10%, while the figures for adults and girls were lower (at 5%).
Finally, the proportion of videos was lowest in four items.
