The table illustrates the total numbers of visits and the rate of growth in tourism in eight different countries in 2009 and 2010.
To give an overall view, France remained the most visited nation. While, Germany experienced a noticeable increase in number of tourists, only that of Hong Kong fell.
In detail, even though, French tourism underwent no growth between two years, it still managed to attract the greatest number of visitors at 76 million people. Additionally, despite small growth of 1.5%, tourism in the USA still retained its second rank as 67 million people visited this country in 2010. Similarly, Spain, the UK and Italy experienced little change in visitor growth ranging from 1.8% to 2.3%, which equated to 56 million visits to 45 millions visits.
However, both Turkey and China exhibited double-digit growth at 33% and 55% respectively, especially, in the case of Turkey, the number of visitors at 46 million in 2010 overtook that to Italy.
Finally, tourism in Hong Kong fell by 11% as in 2010 there was 1 million tourists less that of 2009.
