A quick glance at the table reveals the transaction of coffee and bananas of Fairtrade-labelled in 1999 and 2004 in five distinguished European countries. Most countries witnessed an increasing trend in both merchandises.
In a deal of coffee, the UK had the most significant increase, from 1.5 to 20 million euros. The sales in Switzerland doubled after five years. Belgium experienced a rise from 1 to 1.7 million euros. Both Denmark and Sweden had a slight jump by 0.2 million euros.
Regarding bananas, the transaction in Switzerland had the most dramatic leap. In 2004, the sales of this were three times higher than that of 1999. UK and Belgium also increased noticeably, 5.5 and 4 million euros in 2004 respectively. On the contrary, the deals in Sweden and Denmark saw a slight decrease, which collapsed by approximately 0.8 million euros after five years.
In conclusion, the sales of coffee were highest in the UK whereas the deals of bananas were highest in Switzerland. Most sales of both goods experienced an escalating trend, with the exception of the transaction of bananas in Sweden and Denmark.
