The graph below shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 2040 in three different countries.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The graph shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 2040 in three different countries(USA, Sweden, Japan). Calibration is done in percentage.
Overall, Sweden had a gradual increase in a century while the USA and Japan had many ups and downs. Japan had the lowest percentage initially and will have the highest population at the end by 2040.
Regarding the USA, it has more percentage of the population(10%) than Sweden (7%), and Japan(5%) in 1940. After 20 years, the percentage of the USA and Sweden had an imperceptible growth while Japan had a decrease. Again after 20 years, the population of Japan kept reducing while the USA and Sweden had a gradual boost.
From 1980 to 2000, the population seemed stable for Sweden. In contrast, the USA's population stayed as it is till 2020. In these 20 years, Japan had a boost in population which will keep increasing till 2050. Sweden had a bit of abate in 2000-2020. In 2020-2040, the percentage will proliferate for the USA and Sweden.
