You are due to start a new job next week but you will not be able to, because you have some problems.
Write a letter to your new employer. In you letter:
Explain your situation
Describe your problems
Tell him/her when you think you can start.
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter in regards to job offered to me for a position of Finance Manager with your company. My joining date is agreed to be 1st August 2019. I request you to postpone my joining day by 2 weeks. I can commence my duties with your company by 15th August 2019.
Being Assistant Finance Manager, my current role requires great deal of responsibilities and having historical background of underlying transactions. Further, I have put tremendous efforts in the corporate audit assignment. We managed to finalize the audit for last 6 years. We are on the verge of finalization of this engagement. Due to some unavoidable circumstances on auditor’s part, audit got shifted by three weeks.
My line manager put colossal efforts and managed to cut-short the timelines by 1 week on auditor’s part. Lastly, my company requested me to extend my services by another two weeks to have healthy and mutually beneficial separation. it seems reasonable to me. Considering criticality of situation, I request you to please revise my joining date to 15th August 2019.
Hope you will consider it positively.
Yours faithfully
Gurmeet Singh
