Question Prompt
You are due to start an English language course next week but you will not be able to because you have some problems.
Write a letter to the manager of the language school, Sally Flannigan. In your letter:
explain your situation
describe your problems
tell him/her when you think you can start.
Write at least 150 words.
You should spend no more than 20 minutes on this task.
Dear Ms. Flannigan,
I am writing to let you know that I am unable to attend the English language course that starts next week. I know that I submitted my acceptance letter last month; however, due to some issues that have arisen, I need to retract my acceptance.
My situation has recently changed, and therefore, I am unable to make the commitment of attending class five nights a week. I have recently taken up a waitressing job and most of my shifts are in the evenings. I thought of rescheduling my classes to the later one that starts at 7pm instead of 5pm. However, the main problem is transport. There are no trains available from my workplace to the English language centre and so I have no way of getting there after my shift.
Due to these circumstances, I have to postpone my course until early next year. I would really appreciate it if you could defer my enrollment to the January intake.
I thank you for your understanding.
Yours sincerely,
Valeria Gomez
