Essay topics:

You have just won two tickets to a concert and want to invite your friend to go with you.

Write a letter to your friend. In the letter

• give details about the concert

• describe how you won the tickets

• explain why you’ve chosen your friend to go with you.

Dear Sarah,

Hope you day is sailing well. I have won two tickets to Homayoun’s concert and wanted to invite you to to come with me.

The concert will be held in the Queen Elizabeth’s theatre in Hornby street. It will be a one hour concert followed by traditional Persian dance performed by Yasi, a famous young dancer in Vancouver.

It is interesting how I won this ticket. The other day I was signing up in a website for dance classes and there was a promotion going on there. If you registry for a 10 session training you would enter a pool in which if your name was drawn, you will be awarded with two concert tickets. After two days I received an email from the art centre in which they were written that I have won. I was thrilled because as you know I have never won a single penny in my life.

I thought of inviting you the minute I saw the ad of the concert because I knew hoe much you admire Homayoun. I recall that one time you were talking about how he is an professional artist and you do not have to be Persian to enjoy his voice.

Let me know if you are free and interested to come.

Look forward to hearing back from you.

Best regards,

Rana

Dear John,

How have you been doing? It’s been so long since we were last in touch. I have a great news to share that I have won two tickets to a concert. Delightedly, I would like to invite you to attend this most anticipated event.

This concert will be held at Green Park Stadium in Calgary on May,30 and it will be based on Rock theme. Moreover, many top notch bands are going to perform live over there and free drinks will be served.

As you know that I am quite into the online arcade games and during the time I was playing one of those, I came across an quiz wherein, it was mentioned that one can win two passes for the concert. Apparently, I gave a shot to it and won it luckily.

Keeping in mind the genre of the event; I thought of asking you for this event as you are so dear to me. I am sure we will thoroughly enjoy this evening. Don’t worry about the commutation, I will pick you from your place at 7:00 PM.

Please let me know if you are interested. I look forward to meet you at the day of event.

Cheers,
Mark
