Things like puzzles, board games, and pictures can contribute to a child’s development. What would you give a child to help him/her develop and why? Give details and examples in your explanation.
Parents should spend more time with their children on reading books with pictures and playing board games for entertainment in order to get the best progress output. When it comes to me, I strongly believe that games with lots of pictures and simple shape puzzles are crucial for boosting infants’ skills and abilities.
It is clear that showing variety of colorful pictures to toddlers catches their interest and develops their pictorial memory. It is playing games with those pictures in the following years that has even more benefits such as differentiation of colors and figures. For instance, even though my daughter was not able to differentiate colors or figures in books I showed her at the first year, she managed to do it after six months just by monitoring the same pictures I was showing her that time. The reason why pictures are of pivotal importance for toddler development is that eyes are our main sensor for information input into our brain for further analysis. Therefore, the more pictures being viewed, the more the brain analyses and grows.
Apart from memory development, physical development via simple shape puzzles is crucial for hand-eye coordination. Although the majority of parents find this kind of gameplay complex and difficult for infants who do not succeed in placing shapes in right entries, recent UK studies show that playing with shapes effectively develops control and coordination for infants even if they fail. The reason is that children have to fail in order to achieve success. The more they engage, the faster they learn to control their body. Thus, engaging games with physical work boosts body control capabilities of children.
In conclusion, playing pictures games with children from the early years is beneficial for their brain development and growth and games with shapes are good for them because of its further skill development.
