Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Playing games teaches us about life. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Games are often criticized for their lack of end-product - something that can be deemed as useful in the actual world. Some cite their overly simplistic and fantastic nature for the same. However, I would like to disagree with this ubiquitous belief . Personally , I strongly feel that games can be far more beneficial for us to learn about life . I would explore my reasons for this position in this essay.

First of all , the ability of games to simulate real-world settings is very advantageous to learn about actual problems and thier solutions. My personal experience is a compelling example of this. When I was young, I was heavily invested in a game that was based on ancient civilizations. The video game introduced me to concepts of resources , army , state building and foreign relations between dynasties among many others. The fact that I was at the helm for one of the states provided me with an opportunity to make crucial decisions that in turn had ramifying consequences all of which played out in the game itself. My virtual kindom’s economy took a hit when I decided to attack my neighbouring authority owning to the maintainance of a large army. These path changing decisions helped me master the relationship between cause and effect. A few years after, I assumed the position of a treasurer in a local organization. I was tasked with the appropriation of funds to achieve certain enterprise objectives . With the 1000$ dollar budget that was assigned, I set out to redistribute them between various facets of the organization. Majority of it was spent in talent hiring while the remainder was utilized for the upkeep of the body. Consequently, the organization coasted to its set targets of branching out in new areas through the recently hired pool of people. Indeed, learning from games can help inform our decisions in the real world .

Secondly, games can play a significant role in the development of key traits required to seemlessly navigate through an increasingly complex life. Take the case of grit for example. Researchers have identified it as being one of the most important characteristic for success in life. The pursuit of winning a game comes with a lot of trials. It’s only after we persist and persevere in a game for a long time that we are able to taste success . Our real lives follow a game-like trajectory involving both challenges and obstacles ,where this grit becomes crucial in overcoming them and further achieving our milestones. Similarly , other traits like cooperating with people , accepting failure can be developed with the help of these games.

All in all, games should not be viewed negatively as they pack a lot substance that can be tapped into to understand the workings, challenges and solutions of the real world.
