The reading claims that there are some allegations surrounding solutions for the problem of fungus which infects golden frog's vital life functions. Nontheless, the lecturer finds all the ideas dubious and presents some evidence to refute them all.
First, the author argues that introducing colonies of bacteria to their skin, which produce chemical that kills fungal cells, can be an effective solution. In the contrast, the lecturer brings up the idea that this reason is highly controversial due to the fact that such solution just provide a temporary protection, thereby stop producing this chemical after a short time.
Furthermore, the reading passage holds the view that releasing frogs which have been breeded in capativity in the area in which wild frogs have died out, can bring about a healthy population of frogs. On the contrary, the speaker underlines the fact that since other animals in the area carry the same disease, they will be contaminated again.
Finally, the reading asserts that diffusing the ability of some frongs, that increase their body temperature in order to prevent the growth of fungus, among the golden frog population as a whole can help them overcome this crisis. Conversely, the lecturer dismisses this issue due to the fact that although they are fungus-resillient, owing to consuming great amounf of energy, they are vulnerable to other diseases.
