control the toad population

Essay topics:

control the toad population

Both the lecture and the passage are about the advantages and disadvantages of various ways used to control the toad population which was introduced to Australia in 1935, for protecting farmers' crops. The passage brings out three ideas which it doubted are effective ways. On the contrary, the lecturer contradicts various viewpoints mentioned in the passage based on three reasons.

To begin with, the author of a passage suggests that building a national fence could be useful in preventing moving toads into the other side of the lake. However, the lecturer mentions that this fence is not a brilliant choice for this problem. She reminds us that young toads could jump through the fence and also the eggs could proceed with water to the other side of the fence.

In addition, the author of the passage asserts that the Australian government should initiate a campaign to attract volunteers to capture and destroy the toads.on the other hand, the lecturer thinks that this campaign could affect the population of national frogs too since they can not be identified from toads when they are young for untrained voluntaries.

In the end, the passage suggests using some kind of virus that developed to prevent toads from maturing and reproducing. the lecturer refuses this idea and reminds us that this virus could affect the ecosystem of the USA too. this kind of virus can transition to other nations by eggs or young toads which transport for research purposes.
