origin of Voynich manuscript
The reading presents some theories regarding the origin of Voynich manuscript, a great illustrated handwritten book written on vellum, a kind of material used for writing before the introduction of paper. The passage says that it looks like a magical book because the content cannot be understood. The professor, however, finds the idea dubious and refutes all of the claims made in the article.
First, the author suggests that it have been written by Anthony Ascham who was a sixteenth-century physician and botanist. The lecturer, on the other hand, argues that Ascham was an ordinary physician who had some usual ideas abaut herbal things. Thus, according to his knowledge he couldn't have written such an mysterious manuscript.
Furthermore, the writer asserts that it is a fake manuscript written by Edward Kelley for acquiring money from rich. On the other hand, the speaker contends that if Kelley had wanted to write something fake to gain money, he woudn't have done such a magical, creative and time-consming work.
Finally, the author states that it is something fake written by Voynich himself. In contrast, the professor proves that the ink dates back to thousands of years before Voynich. In addition, the Vollum is older than time of Voinich's life. Therefore, he hasn't written this manuscript as somethng fake to sell.
Furthermore, the speaker asserts that the manuscript resembles a scientific and mysterious work. Therefore, it is plausible that Anthony Ascham has written that.
