The possibility of making colonization on asteroids.
The passage and the talk both discuss the asteroid colonization instead of the Mars and the Moon. The writer contends that asteriods have several advantages which make them a suitable place to make human civilization. The lecturer, however, refutes the author's assessments. He demonstrates three reasons to cast doubt on the claims made in the reading.
The first allegation of the script against which the orator argues is that asteroids' low gravity make it easier to land and take off for the spacecrafts. In contrast, the professor highlights the fact that low gravity results in certain risks. For example, losing their muscle and bone density due to low gravity, people on asterroids are more subjected to health problems. He further asserts that even in short period of living in such low gravity places, humans confront with serious health conditions.
Second, according to the text, asteroids are a rich source of valuable materials which are scarce on earth and mining them would be extremely profitable; although the speaker finds this idea debatable. He bolsters his opinion by stating that shipping those materials costs a lot. Furthermore, by providing so much valuable materials like gold, it can not be guaranteed that the price of these materials will remain the same, since by purvaying so much materials the cost of them will decrease because of their abundancy.
Lastly, the lecture contradictsthis fallacy of the passage that traveling to asteroids are much convinient because of their short distance from earth, saying that their orbit is strange so that their distance from earth changes over time. Therefore, maybe going there is easier than going to the Mars or Moon, but coming back would be challenging task, since at the time of traveling back to earth, the distance of asteroid may be far away from it's original place.
