The speaker contradicts the points with regards to three points as stated in passage by giving relevent points and examples that prove otherwise.Three points are main cause of death, ecological point and orca food change.

Firstly she explains that population of sea otters declined because of predators. According to speaker it is misconception that death was due to industrial pollution. Actually no dead otters were found at the sea shore. Usually when death of any sea animal happens due to pollution change then diseased or dead body get washed off to shore and there are no evidences of it. Thus she negates the information given in the passage.

Secondly, speaker denies validity of another point that food change. Other small mammals were also disappeared from shore because of pollution, it is quiet quantrary because whales were killed by humans and large predators like orca changed their food habits and they targeted small mammals like sea otters as well as sea lions .

Thirdly speaker denies validity of point that ecological change or environmental factors might have given uneven pattern gave uneven population of this small mammal. Furthermore she states that as orca is very large animal and the population of otters decreased in the area where orca whale can have access. population was higher in the area where orca can not access.

Hense in conclusion, the speaker lucidly substanciates her point of view with cogency.
