The reading and the lecture both about tiny mammal mainly sea otters, which lives in the coastal region of Alaska. Th author believes that there seems a huge decline in these minute species. It explains that there is a huge affects by pollution rather than attacks by predator. While the lecturer casts doubt on the claims made in the article. He thinks, predator theory gives more concept to this argument rather than pollution theory.

First of all, the article points out the theory of pollution, it contains a lot of pollutants which is chemically killing these mammals. This argument is challenges by the professor, he conclude that if its pollution, then their remnants should come out at the corner, which is nothing shows any where in evidence.

Secondly, the reading contends that other species like: sea lions, seals and the whale (name as orca) get poorly entrap by the pollution and infection spread throw out the coastal level The teacher rebuts this argument. He says that the whale is vanish due to hunting of humans not by any infection and the small sea otters disappear because of the orca eats them as his food. At the coastal region, this giant mammal does not come and for this reason, there is evidence on the sea shore.

Finally, the passage posits that atmospheric ratio is also facing the decline as compare to other coastal points, which gives the proper indication, The teacher, on the other hand, states that after the declination of the orca whale, there is directly connection to decrease the pollutants from the shore of the Alaska. Hence it provides the prof.
