Second, the text states that Austen's face in this portrait is obviously similar to Cassendra's sketch as an accepted painting of Austen. Conversely, the professor opposes this point and explains that while the portrait is of an teenage girl, it can be a picture of one of her relatives. It is reported that Austen had some relatives who has same age as Austen on that period.
Finally, the reading claims that there are some evidences that it was painted when Austen was a teenager. However, the speaker refutes this opinion by stating that recent researches about the date of selling of the portrait blank canvas shows that this action was happened when Austen was so older than the age that depicted in that portrait.
