The reading discusses the danger of glasses which are used in the modern architecture for wild birds and is considered three solutions for it. However, the speaker explains that these solutions are not effective and refutes each author's solutions.
First, the reading avers that the regular glass should be replaced by one-way glass which is transparent in one direction. However, the speaker opposes this point by stating that this kind of glass can be like a mirror and it is as bad as regular glass. The on-way glass reflects the sky and tree, so it is dangerous and perilous for birds because they imagine the glass as a sky and fly through it.
Second, the reading asserts that painting colorful lines on regular glass is other solution which protect birds from damages. The lecturer contends that by painting some small parts of glass the people who are inside can see out but the birds consider those unpainted parts as an opened hole so they move directly through it. Therefore, the unpainted areas should be small which it makes the inside of the building dark and inconvenient for people.
Third, the reading claims that it is better to equip the building with artificial magnetic field. However, the speaker refutes this point by saying that the birds just use the magnetic signals when they want to travel long distance and when they migrate from cold country to warmer before winter. For short trip such as moving from one side of the city to another they find their way by using their eyes and the brightness of light which can be more helpful for them.
