In the lecture, the professor makes a series of points that cast doubt on all the theories presented in the passage about the behavior of Agnostides. She states each theory has serious weaknesses that opposes to accepting them.
First of all, the speaker states this organisms could have not been a free swimming predators due having poor vision. She says only well developed eyes and good vision can help free swimming predators to be successful which is lacking in Agnostides. So this well developed sensory organ for chasing animal is not seen in the fossil remains.
Also, the professor points out that sea floor dwellers do not have the ability to move fast .So they try to make small geographic area. However the Agnostides made multi geografic area and spreaded around a large area. This showed they moved fast not slow and this theory is not correct.
Lastly, the lecturer refutes the theory related to parasites living by saying that they were not small size .So the theory is not applicable to them. She states parasitic population is not large and is in certain limit. Thus, they kill off all other organism when they grow large. In fact ,great size of these animals completely rule out the possibility of this form of living for them.
