The reading states that many skeptics doubt that bees existed on earth 200 million years ago and also they believe that the discovery resemble bee nest structures were not created by bees and provide three reasons. However, the professor states that it is perfectly possible that the structure are made by bees and refutes each author's arguments.
First, the argument which mention in the reading claims that no fossil remains of actual bees have ever been found 200 million years ago. However the professor contends that preserving in trees resin were common much later. He explains that it is possible that bees existed before but no tree resin existed, so it took the chance to preserve bees as fossils.
Second, the argument in passage is that due to absence of flowering plants 200 million years ago, so it may bees didn't exist in that time. The professor refutes this point by saying that it is possible bees feed on non-flowering plants before, and may after flowering plant evolves, bees use them as their food.
Third, the reading states that the lack of spiral patterns in fossilized structures are found so it may made by other insects. While, the professor opposes this point by explaining that there are some kind of water proofing materials in the structures which are made just by bees for water proofing, therefore those structures possibly made by bees no other insects
