The lecture is about how the solutions made to solve the problem of declining frog populations are not practical.

First, reducing pesticides use by farmers is not fair or practical for the economy. Farmers relay on using pesticide to stay competitive or to decrease crop loss. If farmers follow a strict regulation regarding the use of pesticide, they will suffer from sever disturbance compering to farmers in other areas. This, however, contradicts the information mentioned in the reading.

Second, although there are effective treatments for the fungus, applying the new treatment to overcome the fungus problem is very difficult and expensive as it must be applied individually. Applying it on a large scale of frog populations would be impossible due to the fact it would be hard to catch them. Moreover, this treatment won't prevent the passing of fungus to off spreading, so it would require applying to several generations in-order to be effective.

Third, excessive water use or the draining of wetlands is not the biggest problem that is threatening frog populations. Global warming is much a bigger problem that threatens many other species in addition to frog. It has contributed to the disappearance and extinction of many entire species. Thus, preventing humans’ activities is unlikely to decrease the threaten facing frog populations.
