Both the reading and the lecture talk bout the effect of agriculture on birds. The reading claims that the population of birds decline due to increase in the agriculture. However the lecture disagrees. it claims that the reading points are unconvincing.
First, the reading states that the population of the humans increase, which lead to decline in the population of the birds. For example, people start to destroy the bird’s habitat to build their own homes. However, the lecture disagrees. It claims that some bird’s habitat decrease but other birds population increase in the urban areas. For example, there are better and large habitat for sea gull and hook in the urban areas.
Second, the reading states that agriculture causes decline of bird’s habitat in the rural areas. For example, as agriculture increase more wildness lands were needed as well. But, the lecture disagrees. It claims that increase in the agriculture do not means increase in the use of lands. On the other hand, it meant increase in the number of crops planted, It means more food per unite of land no need to destroy wildness lands. harm the bird at all. For example, there are changes occur in the pesticides synthetic.
Third, the reading states that the uses of pesticides lead to decline in the bird’s habitat. For example, pesticides are incorporated in the food and the water chain of the birds, which eventually cause decline in the bird’s population. Yet, the lecture disagrees. It claims that pesticides are not responsible for the decline of birds population. For example, first, new and less toxic pesticides are now available. Second, pesticides resistant crops are developed which do not harm the birds at all.
