The reading text and lecture are both about the various benefits of the artificial reefs. While the author feels that man-made reef will facilitate the fisheries business and the fish itself. Lecturer disputes all these claims and said that artificial reef in ocean may cause serious problems.
To begin with, the reading text suggests that, artificial reefs will increase the fish population because, it will facilitate the fish for the better feeding and reproductive spots. In contrast to that, lecturer states that, main function of the coral reef is to attract the fish. In addition to that, if we are making too much artificial reef then it will increase the fish count in one specific area and improve the income of the fishermen. But, in the end it will loss the major population of the fish in the overall area.
Furthermore, the article posits that, establishment of the human made reef in sea is offer the economic competitive advantage for the small fishermen. In concern to that, professor goes to says that, unknown location of the artificial reef is serious danger for all the fishermen because, it will cause a safety problem for the fisherman like, sometimes it will destroy the fishing nets of them and on top of that, many time it will crashed the boat of the fisherman in shallow water.
In last, writer thinks that, making artificial reef is fascinated way to recycle an used material. Additionally, it is an inexpensive, eco-friendly way to reuse the used material. In contrary, orator notes down that, occasionally it causes harmful impact on the environments. Like, ash born reef, which is made up of the used motorbike’s tire. He notices that in some cases those ash born reef will spread out in the small fractions and releases the harmful chemical in the sea water. As a result of that, major sea flora and salt water habitual plant will be disturbed. So, this claim proves that putting artificial reef in the ocean, to get the high profit is not an eco-friendly way.
