TV appearance for professors

Essay topics:

TV appearance for professors

This topic discusses whether being on television is beneficial to professors, universities, and the public or not. The passage holds that television appearances are of great benefit, for all three of them. on On the other hand, the lecture holds that being on TV doesn’t benefit anyone the opposite view.
First of all, appearing on TV doesn’t benefit professors because Professors who show up on television are more likely to be seen as an entertainer instead of an educator. Under such a concept As a result, it will be hard for that professor to get invitations to academic meetings and funding, which decreases the professor’s chance to do more research and share more research results.
Universities also don’t benefit from such appearances. Showing up on television means a lot of time will be spent on travel, rehearsal, and makeup. This takes up the professor’s time on campus, which leads to less communication with students and less time doing research. So the professor will make less contribution to the school.
To the public, it is not beneficial for professors to be on TV. Nobody would like to watch a professor explain serious things if there are other entertainment programs after meals. Not only that, but the audience of TV programs is also more willing to listen to some basic knowledge, which can be told by a reporter by just doing a little research work.
To sum up, professors being on TV is more likely to bring disadvantages to themselves, and the universities they work in.
