The bar graph illustrates the percentage of population aged 65 and over in each country of UK (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland).
Overall, all the population in each country of the Britain is predicted to increase between 1985 and 2035. There was a steep rise in the population with the age of 65 and over with the Northern Ireland, which figure is expected to double in 2035.
In 1985, the lowest percentage was Northern Ireland at well over 10% as the percentage for other countries reached around 15% (Wales was just over 15% whereas Scotland was just below 15%) for the population aged 65 and over.
The percentage of population in UK has changed for 50 years. A significant increase could be predicted for Scotland and Northern Ireland by 2035, which figure sharply increased by 10% to reach at 25% and escalated to reach at marginally over 20% respectively. In comparison, the elderly population in England showed steadily rose to reach at approximately 22% (which predicted to increase by around 7%) whereas the population for someone, whose age is over 65 and live in Wales, predicted to reach just over 25% by 2035.
