The reading claims that selling fossils to private ownerships is a great misery and provides three reasons of support. However, the lecturer finds all the ideas dubious and presents several points to refute them all.
First, the author argues that this is causing huge public suffer because people could not see these fossils after rich persons buy them. In the contrast, the lecturer casts doubt on this idea by stating that lots of low level places such as public libraries could also by these fossils and allowed people to see them, so, people have more chance to get familiar with these valuable fossils.
Furthermore, the reading passage holds the view that scientists are not able to investigate the fossils which are sold to the private ownerships. Conversely, the professor underlines the fact that before these fossils are sold to the rich people, they should pass through the hand of scientists. She states that scientists examine these fossils and put value on them before they sale the fossils, and as a result, they can thoroughly investigate them.
Finally, the reading asserts that commercial fossils ownerships damage these fossils and this is a huge lost. On the contrary, the speaker dismisses this issue due to the fact that although these people sometimes destroy this valuable fossils, they provide an opportunity for scientists to excavate more cites and find more fossils. She also believes that it is more beneficial for scientists to discover more fossils and such a small lost should not been considered as a huge disadvantage.
