The bar graph represents the number of British people who are a member of private sector occupational pension schemes by benefits and contributions from 2007 to 2014.
Overall, while the occupational pension scheme decreased with its memberships over the projected periods, the contribution from the members had increased continuously.
In terms of benefits made by pension schemes, it recorded at about 2.8 million in 2007 as the highest benefits in the given periods, followed by 2008’s benefits of 2.7 million and 2.6 million benefits in 2009. As time passes by, the amount of benefits experienced a constant plummet to reach at about 1.7 million benefits in 2012 and which amount had not changed for the last two consecutive years.
In contrast, contribution made by private sector occupational pension scheme witnessed a drastic incremental trend despite the periodic fluctuations. First five years, the contribution made by members had fluctuated in its amount but it always remained at below a million. Since 2013, the contribution amount had risen steadily to above 1.3 million from British members, its amount grew substantially to over 3 million contributions by 2014.
