In this set of material the reading states that many frog species have declined in the world because of changes in their environment. Since the frogs play a crucial role in humans' life in a spread spectrum by eating harmful insects, so the reading brings three solutions for preventing from this reduction, however the lecture finds all solutions vain. The information the professor provides contradicts the fact outlined in the reading passage.
First of all, the reading contends that the used pesticides in farmlands of near of neighboring frog habitats have increased by farmers in the recent years. These pesticides can have a horrible effect on frogs' bodies and they are able to kill the frogs, consequently farmers should not use the pesticides in their farmlands near of the frogs’ habitats, in contrast the lecture declares that not to use the pesticides is not economical and practical, because it can strike to farmers. For instance they will lose more crops and will not be able to compete with other farmers in other areas.
Second, the author of readings proposes that the fungus has recently raised up in the world and it causes frogs' skins to become thick, so the frogs will not be attract water and they will become dehydrate and finally die. The frogs should be treated from this infection, on the contrary the professor expresses that every frog has to treat individually, but in every spring the frogs pass on the fungus and new generation will be infected again; hence this procedure is very expensive and long.
Third, the reading claims that natural habitats like wetlands where the frog population lays their eggs are threatened. If humans protect these areas, the frogs will be able to boost their population or at least maintain it; conversely the professor refutes this solution and believes that it cannot save the frogs. The most important reason for ruining wetlands is global warming, subsequently protecting from the wetlands will not be effective.
