A glance at the table provided reveals the information about the population, distance travelled and freight transported using railway systems in four countries, namely Malaysia, Canada, China and UAE in 2007.
It is evident that China had by far the highest number of rail passengers of 27 million, dominating that of the other countries. Second in terms of train users was in Malaysia, and followed closely by UAE. Numbering 5.5 and 5.9 million respectively, the figures in Malaysia and UAE was almost five times smaller than that of China. In stark contrast, considerably fewer people at a mere 0.3 million travelled with trains in Canada, which was the least amongst the four countries given. Regarding the distance passed by customers, a similar pattern compared to the number of railway users can be observed. Almost 2000 kilometers were travelled by Chinese, whereas in Malaysia and UAE, passengers travelled 770 and 780 km respectively. Canada, meanwhile, saw the least distances passed by travelers at just 80 km.
As of freight carried by each countries, interestingly, the most significant volume was recorded in Canada, accounting for over 28 billion tones. The rest of countries transported somewhere around 22 billion tones on average.
To conclude, China carried more passengers with trains while Canada mainly used the rail systems for freight of goods.
