In this set of materails the reading passege discusses that the glass that used in the buildings led to damage to thousents of birds in each year. Because the birds crush with this galss during flying. Thus, in the passge suggested several solution for this problem. While, in the listening the professor casts doubts on whjat is presented in the text and believes that Non of these solutions cannot stop birds damage.

First of all, in the text it is clearly mentioned that the one-way glass that people can see out but birds connot see through a window. However, the professor claims that this kind of glass word as a mirror for birds and this glass is bad like and other regular glass. Because, the birds cannot understand mirrors and when they see the picture of trees or other thisngs on the glass they move towad this windows.

In addition, the professor disagrees with this idea that the colorful designs can solve the problem. He says that the birds see this designs as a open holes and they fly toward this designs and crush to them. And he says that this designs should be was big enough to can watch by birds but in this shape this designs become the inside of duildings very durk so people used small designs and it led to they do not work efficiently.

Finally, in the text it is stated that the magnetic fields in the buildings can solve the problem. Because birds naturally used from magnetic fields for navigation. The professor subscribes that birds used magnetic fields only for long distance travels not for short trip. And birds used their eyes for short trips. Therefore, magnetic fields is not practical solution.
